Abstract

We investigate electron-electron scattering in quantum wells, and show that the inclusion of both the exchange process and the dynamically screened Coulomb interaction results in only a small suppression of the scattering rates when plasmon emission comes into play, even at higher densities. This contrasts with the large exchange suppression of pair excitation scattering rates seen in published calculations, using a statically screened Coulomb interaction.
